A financial plan is the translation of a (new) business plan into financial data, which helps determine if an idea is economically sustainable. It also helps you pitch investors, anticipate growth and prevent cashflow shortages. The financial plan is part of the overall business plan and contains three major components— a profit & loss forecast, cash flow forecast and balance sheet forecast.
